Have your wedding enquiries dried up?

I may be able to help with my online wedding business course Phoenix, which you can try for 7-days for just £1.

How Phoenix helped me

Despite the virus, five couples booked in for Skype calls to discuss using me for their wedding this week. Last week I had conference calls with four couples and next week I currently have one meeting arranged; all because of the Phoenix formula.

Despite what's going on with Covid-19, the Phoenix formula still attracts keen interest from brides and grooms because couples are STILL planning weddings for 2021/22. If you are worried about your wedding business, slow bookings and diminished cash flow, Phoenix can help position your business correctly, so couples enquire about your services as well.

How Phoenix helped others

What I teach is not new, or fly-by-night, I've been sharing the Phoenix formula for years, and it works - listen to what my students say about the course in the...

How Should I Deal With Wedding Cancellations?

This is a difficult one and a question I get asked a lot by suppliers. Truth is you'd be perfectly within your rights to activate the terms of your contract under normal circumstances, but everybody agrees Coronavirus is far from normal.

I can't advise what you should do, but I will let you know how I've personally handled cancellations during these awful times... I let them go.

My Ts & Cs clearly state that if a couple cancels within two months of their wedding, the full fee is payable but under the cloud of Covid-19, activating this does not feel right.

Couples have contacted me, devastated about their wedding and worried about the cost of cancelling the day. I've always reacted in the same way, saying "My heart goes out to both of you, I can only imagine the extra concerns this awful virus is heaping upon you, this is why I have thrown my terms and conditions out of the window because this is not your fault at all..."

I try to work towards a postponement, and most do, but...

Government measures that can help your wedding businesses through Covid-19 cancellations

I do not know a single wedding professional who is not concerned about their cashflow as a result of postponements and cancellations. If you have financial concerns this economic response from the Exchequer offers some relief. Here’s a summary of the key points:
    1. Government back loan on attractive terms to pay rent, salaries, suppliers or to purchase stock.
    2. For larger firms low cost commercial papers.
  • Loans of up to £5m with no interest due for the first 6 months - up and running by the start of next week.
  • Cashflow and fixed costs help for businesses in the hospitality, retail and leisure sectors with a rateable value of less than £51,000. Businesses in these sectors can get up to £25,000 cash grant to help bridge through this difficult period.
  • Extended business rates holiday to all businesses in the hospitality, retail and leisure sectors irrespective of rateable value so they will pay no business rates whatsoever for the next 12 months.
  • Small...

You Work For Yourself But Is Your Inbox Your Real Boss?

Before bookings became a certainty in my business, I was often distracted from achieving goals by my inbox, and I didn't even know it!

I'd wake, check emails and instantly react to messages that had nothing to do with motivating engaged couples to book me, the next thing I knew, the morning was gone and sometimes part of the afternoon too! I was being bossed around by other peoples messages that were not helping me to fill the booking gaps in my calendar - can you relate to that? If you do, do you think you need to fire yourself and re-hire a more business-focused version of you?

It dawned on me that every time I allowed a random email to sidetrack me, it not only took me away from what I should have been doing - working on my priorities, it diverted me towards working on someone else's priorities!

That was when I realised I needed to get the blinkers on if I were ever to lay 'Pipelines'. A Pipeline is a strategy that encourages engaged couples to enquire or book.

I only took the...

CWR - Coaching With Results

I'll never forget my first Unleash The Power Within experience with Tony Robbins; it was in 2007. Inspired, I hired my first business coach months afterwards.
The following year our catering company became an award winner, and we went onto serve TV celebs and worked alongside Dragons Den Levi Roots at the Notting Hill Carnival.
Why did I wait until 2007 before hiring a coach? Two reasons:
i) I told myself I could not afford one.
ii) I thought, surely I could figure out success for myself.
The truth was before my coach showed me the fastest route to success, I was unhappily plodding along using trial and error to win business, yes it worked to a degree, but winning business seemed complicated, and progress was slow. It was only after learning from my coach who had already achieved what I wanted to achieve was I able to fast track success.

How To Respond When Brides & Grooms Ask The PRICE Question Too Soon (Part 1 of 2)

There are a lot of frustrations going on inside a couples head when planning their wedding.

Typically, they have to source around 20 suppliers for their wedding, often with minimal professional wedding planning experience.

And when you factor in couples will probably choose from a minimum of 3 suppliers in each category, that's at least 60 initial enquiries (generating at least 60 responses) to simply get their wedding in motion. It's no wonder couples use pricing for whittling down the fatigue of sourcing wedding suppliers.

Recall some of the language couples have used on you in the past, for example: "Can you give me an idea of your price first as I don't want to waste your time?" What they really mean is they don't want to waste THEIR time if you fall outside their initial budget.

But this approach is flawed, especially if you are justifiably more expensive.

Seek first to understand, before being understood - Stephen Covey

A couples initial budget for your services is often...

How To Respond When Brides Ask The PRICE Question Too Soon - Email response template (Part 2 of 2)

In last weeks post, I promised to share the Price Deflector template that my students and I use to deflect the price question when asked too soon by engaged couples.

I created the template (initially for myself) because I found whenever I quoted before explaining my value, typically just 2/10 couples booked. The eight that did not said the cost of my service was above their budget. But whenever I met to explain my value first, 8/10 booked saying I was exactly what they were looking for.

Because price-shoppers are not my target audience, I am prepared to let them go early by using the Price deflector as a filter.

If your prices are much higher than average, and you prefer to meet before quoting, download and customise the Price Deflector from this link because it's an elegant way to get couples back into your marketing funnel. This paves the way to for you to price reveal AFTER you've expressed the emotional benefits loaded in your offer, which benefits you, and not...

Free 25 Point Landing Page Checklist

At the beginning of each year, I set one big goal. In 2011 it was to improve the appeal of my website so brides and grooms would:

1) Hang around longer, and

2) Click my call to action to enquire.

The big question back then was "How could I do that?"

It took years of trial and error, but I never gave up, and today I've honed it down to a 25 Point Landing Page Checklist that gets me booked at national and destination weddings, and I want to share it with you.

If your website is not drawing in as many couples as you'd like it to, and your 2020 goal is to boost enquiries from your website, download your free 25 Point Landing Page Checklist today. You'll discover what copy and imagery to change, so your site speaks directly to the wants, needs and desires of the brides and grooms you want to book.

The 25 Point Landing Page Checklist will make your shop window 'stickier', and reduce the number of couples who disappear from your...
